Skin-quality consultation

Skin Boosters in Adelaide

W Medical Aesthetics provides an individual consultation to discuss skin quality concerns, available options, suitability and what to expect before deciding whether to proceed.

What are skin boosters?

Skin boosters are discussed for skin quality rather than primarily adding volume or changing facial contours. The term covers different products and delivery methods, which are not interchangeable.

At W Medical Aesthetics, suitability and the proposed method are explained during consultation. The expected response depends on the option and individual assessment.

Skin-quality concerns assessed during consultation

Consultation can explore skin-quality concerns and their possible causes. An assessment does not mean a procedure will be recommended:

Areas discussed during your consultation

The area you would like assessed provides a starting point. Not every procedure or preparation is appropriate for every area:

  • Dryness: Discuss your skin condition, skincare routine and any relevant health history before considering suitable care.
  • Uneven appearance: Assessment considers texture, tone, current irritation and other concerns rather than assuming one cause.
  • Fine lines: These common skin changes do not necessarily require treatment. Discuss your preferences, possible options and their limitations.
  • Texture changes: Dr Wong assesses skin texture and sensitivity before discussing an appropriate care pathway.
  • Face: Discuss dryness, texture or other skin-quality concerns affecting facial areas.
  • Neck: A commonly discussed area where hydration and skin quality concerns may be assessed.
  • Under eye: This delicate area requires individual assessment; suitability and relevant limitations are discussed before any recommendation.
  • Décolletage: Discuss skin-quality concerns and whether any available care option may be appropriate.
  • Hands: Dryness and texture may be assessed in the context of skin condition and health history.

What happens during your appointment

Your appointment follows a considered process from assessment through to procedure-specific aftercare.

Consultation

Review your skin, medical history, previous procedures and goals.

Product and procedure planning

Discuss the option, delivery method, treatment area, comfort, material risks, alternatives and costs.

Appointment and aftercare

Timing depends on the option and area. You receive personalised aftercare and review guidance.

Expected timeline and appointments

A timeline can only be discussed once a suitable care option has been identified. Visible response, recovery and maintenance vary, and a beneficial change is not guaranteed.

The number and timing of appointments depend on the care option, your concern and individual response. Review informs whether further care is appropriate rather than committing to an automatic course.

  • Suitability, response, recovery and maintenance needs vary.
  • Further appointments are based on review rather than an automatic fixed course.
  • Another approach or no procedure may be appropriate after assessment.

Downtime and aftercare

Possible side effects, material risks and recovery depend on the proposed procedure and individual medical history. Some procedures can involve temporary redness, sensitivity, swelling or bruising, as well as less common complications.

Your clinical team will provide aftercare guidance to support comfort while the skin settles.

  • Follow the clinic’s procedure-specific advice about makeup and skincare.
  • Introduce gentle, hydrating skincare while the skin settles and hold off on retinol or exfoliating acids for a few days.
  • Ask about activity restrictions, including exercise, swimming and heat exposure, for your proposed procedure.
  • Limit direct sun exposure and apply SPF daily while the skin recovers.
  • Contact the clinic if you notice anything unusual, such as swelling that does not settle or signs of infection.

Individual aftercare

Follow the clinic’s advice for skincare, makeup, sun protection and activity restrictions. Recovery and aftercare depend on the selected procedure.

Seek prompt advice for unexpected or worsening symptoms.

Frequently asked questions about skin booster consultations

Is this the same as a facial?

Not necessarily. Skin-quality consultations can consider different care options. Facials, professionally applied preparations and other procedures have different indications, delivery methods, limitations and risks.

Which booster should I choose?

You do not need to choose a product before your appointment. Dr Wong assesses your skin, concerns, medical history and goals before discussing appropriate care, alternatives and the option of no procedure.

How often are skin boosters needed?

The number and timing of appointments depend on the product selected and individual response. Further appointments can be discussed during review.

Can skin boosters be discussed alongside laser procedures?

This is possible for some patients, but suitability depends on your skin, treatment history and the timing between appointments. The clinical team will confirm whether combining treatments is appropriate during your consultation.
